Recioto della Valpolicella DOCG Classico

An impressive sweet red wine of Verona tradition, which was used to be offered to guests on the most important occasions – weddings, births, visits – maybe with a slice of chocolate cake or a fruit tart.

As Amarone, it is obtained from the typical grape varieties of Valpolicella – Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella – and a small percentage of Croatina, cultivated in our vineyards on the hills of Marano, 350 meters above sea level.

The vines are trained according to the traditional Veronese pergola and are between 10 and 30 years old. Also the grapes for the Recioto are dried before crushing, but for 100 days, that is until February, thus obtaining a wine which may preserve its organoleptic characteristics up to 15 years from harvest.

The difference with Amarone lies in the interruption of the fermentation before all the sugars are converted into alcohol, so as to give the Recioto its sweet and fruity flavour, with notes of vanilla and a unique, intense bouquet.
